What to Expect From a Laser Facial Treatment

Laser skin resurfacing, also known as laser facial treatment, uses a laser to improve your skin’s appearance or treat minor facial flaws. Our care team will numb your skin with medication. You might be sedated for those requiring a more extensive resurfacing of the entire face. The laser beams will destroy the outer layer of skin and heat the underlying skin to stimulate collagen production over time, resulting in better skin texture and tone. Most patients describe the feeling as similar to a mild sunburn, showing signs of swelling and redness. There is a chance of stinging or itching for a few days after the treatment. All patients respond differently to laser facial treatment.

After laser facial resurfacing, your skin may react differently, but it usually feels like a mild sunburn. The treated area may be raw, swollen, itchy, red, and oozing, and you may experience stinging for a few days. Depending on the treatment depth, you may also have bruising, which should resolve in 7–10 days.
