From pregnancy and breastfeeding to weight fluctuations and aging, life can be unkind to the appearance of our bosom. If you want cosmetic help to improve the appearance of your chest, cosmetic surgeon Christopher Hankins, MD, and Premier Plastic Surgery can restore breast volume and lift with a breast lift or mastopexy surgery.
Our Houston area office is located in Pearland,TX, conveniently located to see breast lift patients in Lake Jackson, Clearlake, Friendswood, Marvel and the surrounding areas of South Houston.
Many women experience deflation and ptosis of their breasts as a result of the aging process or pregnancy. If the loss of breast volume is causing you to be uncomfortable with your appearance, either an augmentation with an appropriately selected breast implant or a breast lift (mastopexy) is an excellent cosmetic surgical procedure. If you are one of the many women who feel uncomfortable about the loss of breast volume (fullness), sagging breasts, drooping breasts, or the size or symmetry of your breasts and are looking for a cosmetic surgical solution, Dr. Hankins can help.
There are several surgical approaches for a breast lift, or mastopexy, procedure. Dr. Hankins will examine you and discuss the best approach to correct and improve your breasts and restore them to their original shape and position on your chest wall.
Correction of this deformity is highly individualized according to the patient’s needs. In the case of slight drooping of the breast, a breast augmentation [insert link] may be needed to restore the fullness in the upper pole of the breasts.
For extremely droopy breasts, a reduction of the breast envelope must be carried out to restore a pleasing shape to the breasts. Each patient is different, and a customized approach to restore the patient’s breasts to their original shape will be planned. Dr. Hankins will discuss this procedure if a breast reduction [insert link] is needed.
Dr. Hankins can perform mastopexy with a variety of techniques. These options include:

At Premier Plastic Surgery, Dr. Hankins’ patients typically desire breast lift (mastopexy) surgery due to:
Loss of breast volume and sagging due to aging
Loss of breast volume and sagging due to pregnancy
Loss of breast volume and sagging due to breastfeeding
Improvements in self-confidence and body image
In younger women, the breast is shaped so that the nipple is at or slightly higher than the crease below the breast, the inframammary fold. The upper surface of the breast has a gentle concave contour, whereas the bottom of the breast in profile has a convex contour. There is ample fullness in the upper pole of the breasts.
During pregnancy and in the postpartum period, the breasts swell to produce milk, which results in the stretching of the ligaments that attach the dermis (skin/tissue) of the breast to the pectoralis fascia, or the connective tissue layer immediately above the pectoralis major muscle.
Reduction in the size of the breasts occurs as the fatty tissue and glandular component of the breasts are involuted following discontinuance of breastfeeding. With shrinkage of the underlying tissue of the breasts, the skin envelope becomes deflated, resulting in a progressive descent of the position of the nipple concerning the chest wall. When the position of the nipple falls below the inframammary fold, a condition known as ptosis develops; depending on the degree of tissue loss and skin laxity, the volume deficit may be compensated for with an implant. Or, in more severe cases, excision of the excess skin either with or without an implant.
If you are concerned about any of these conditions affecting your breasts, schedule a breast lift consultation with Dr. Hankins.
The first step to getting a breast lift in Pearland and the surrounding Houston area is to schedule your consultation with Dr. Hankins. During your consultation, Dr. Hankins will complete a breast evaluation, examine your breast volume, and discuss your health history and aesthetic goals. He will discuss the various options and approaches with you based on your build and wishes. A breast augmentation may even be recommended in addition to a breast lift if he feels you have lost a lot of breast volume.
Suppose you and Dr. Hankins feel that a breast lift is the best option. In that case, he will develop a surgical plan that you can take to our patient coordinator, who will help you schedule the surgery conveniently and provide pre- and postoperative instructions.
On the day of your Breast Lift surgery at Premier Plastic Surgery, Dr. Christopher Hankins will place you under general anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure and will begin the procedure.
Depending on the incision type discussed during this cosmetic procedure, Dr. Hankins will carefully cut the skin, ensuring minimal scarring, remove excess skin fat, and reposition it for the desired “lift.” The nipple and areola might be moved to a more youthful, natural position or resized if needed, and excess skin above the nipple is pushed down and reshaped to improve the contour, shape, and firmness of underlying tissue in the breast.
Once done, Dr. Hankins will seal the incisions with sutures and put on the compression garment to hold the breasts in place. You might even install a drain or two to expel excess fluids.
Mastopexy is an outpatient procedure. You should prioritize resting and relaxing for the first few days until you feel well enough to resume normal activities. You can return to work one to two weeks later. After surgery, you will receive a compression garment that you should wear almost always. Not only does this help to hold your breasts in their new position, but it also significantly reduces swelling and bruising for an accelerated healing time. Some patients may require drains to expel excess fluids.
Take prescribed pain medication as necessary to manage lingering discomfort. Although Dr. Hankins schedules follow-up appointments to check on your progress, the stitches are dissolvable and do not need to be removed.
The average breast lift cost in the Pearland and Houston area is $8,500. Prices vary depending on factors such as the complexity of the procedure, anesthesia costs, and surgeon fees.

The procedure itself lasts approximately 3.5 hours.

Stem cell skin rejuvenation treatments are generally painless or minimally uncomfortable. Dr. Hankins performs the treatment under local anesthesia or light sedation, so you should be completely comfortable throughout the procedure. You may experience mild swelling or bruising, but this should dissipate quickly.
As an outpatient procedure, your plastic surgery itself is performed under general anesthesia, so you should be completely pain-free during the procedure. Post-surgery, you will have minor swelling, bruising, and pain. You can take pain medication and continue wearing a compression garment to relieve the symptoms. You may also feel like your chest is tight, but this is normal and will improve over the next few days.
If you have drains, you will return to have them removed in a few days. After a week, you will be asked to return to monitor recovery and remove any sutures or bandages. Dr. Hankins will always inform you when you should return for additional check-ups.
On average, patients can expect between six to twelve weeks for their breasts to settle into their final position and between six months and a year to see their final results.
The scarring depends on the type of incision made. If it were a lollipop incision, there would be a scar around the areola and vertically down towards the underside of the breast. All wounds will start red, then pink, and then fade to the patient’s skin color. We advise scar gels, ointments, and exceptional skin care to minimize scarring.
We recommend you rest entirely for the first week and only walk. Slowly resume the daily routine and work during week two, and do not consider strenuous exercise until weeks six to eight.
Yes, indeed. One of the most common procedures to do with a breast lift is a breast augmentation if you want to increase your breast size in addition to lifting them. Other body contouring procedures like a Thigh Lift, Tummy Tuck, Arm Lift, or Liposuction might also be combined with a breast lift. We encourage you to discuss these plans with Dr. Hankins during your initial consultation so that he can design the best-combined procedure plan for you.
Overall, Breast Lift is a safe surgery with minimal risks, but there are still some associated risks to outline:
These reactions are normal and should heal within a week or so, but if you experience any long-lasting or unexpected reactions, please call our office immediately.
