Dermal fat grafts are a more invasive and complicated procedure that may require anesthesia to be performed properly. How many appointments will I need?

Once a year is generally an adequate number of Juvederm sessions; certain patients may find they need treatment more or less often. For patients requesting a dermal fat graft, multiple appointments may be necessary to perform the procedure and follow up to ensure the graft has settled.

How Long Until I See Results?

Lip augmentation injections with hyaluronic acid fillers usually last around a year but can last up to a year and a half with proper maintenance. Different patients may find that different augmentation options appear more natural on them, but small augmentations usually provide the most natural and subtle change.

Can I combine Lip Fillers with other procedures?

Some patients request Botox injected in small quantities to address fine lines around their mouth. However, Botox is a neuromodulator, not a filler. If you want Botox or other non-surgical facial treatments besides your lip filler procedure, please mention it in your consultation.

Juvéderm® is injected with local anesthesia into the lower and upper lip, lasting up to eight to twelve months. The advantage and disadvantage of Juvéderm® filler is that the results are temporary, as the body gradually reabsorbs the product. What to Expect from a Lip Fillers Treatment

Lip fillers are relatively quick and easy. First, your skin will be cleansed, and then Dr. Hankins will use syringes to inject the appropriate amount of filler into the targeted areas. The entire process takes 15 to 30 minutes, and in the vast majority of cases, 1 or 2 syringes will suffice. You can go home the same day!

Christopher Hankins, MD, is a plastic surgeon specializing in facial, breast, and body aesthetic surgery.
